Future Horizons: A John Douglas Taylor Conference
Future Horizons, the 2020 John Douglas Taylor conference at McMaster University, was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The subject of the conference was the changing relationship between Canadian literature and public discourse, and the ways in which emerging forms of digital engagement were shaping how people interact with and understand Canadian literature and culture.
Although the pandemic prevented us from gathering, it did not stop us from reading, thinking, and creating. To celebrate this, we have transformed the conference into a series of digital works, each created by a master’s student, doctoral student, or postdoctoral fellow who was meant to be presenting at Future Horizons, and whose work we share with you here.
You can read more about the original conference and its reincarnation as an online series here and you and you can explore the creative works by following the links below.
We hope you enjoy these meditations on what it means to think about, create out of, and meditate on Canadian literature, culture, and the COVID-19 pandemic—and we look forward to when we’re able to gather together in person again!
